Our goal to achieve sustainable agriculture for smallholder farmers goes beyond the environment, nature, and the planet: we nurture resilient and healthy communities which have sustainable incomes, mutual relationships, and decent livelihoods.
The principle of agricultural sustainability dictates that we must meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Our efforts to promote sustainable agriculture focus on empowering smallholder farmers to improve their quality of life while safeguarding the environment, nature, and the planet.
Climate change is a global issue that is affecting communities, lives, businesses and economies all over the world. SHCAN is working to support more smallholder farmers in building resilience and adapting to climate change.
Our economic empowerment supports women to control and benefit from resources, assets, and income. We have a special focus on empowering women and young farmers as drivers for social change. We recognise that men remain an integral part of achieving healthy families and descent livelihoods.
We are an NGO that is helping rural smallholder farmers in Uganda to grow their way out of extreme poverty. We do this by promoting sustainable agriculture, climate change mitigation actions and amplifying women’s inclusive in community development.
